Have had some issues with rear brakes of late in previous posts, thanks by the way for the responses. While I was installing speed bleeders I threw my dial indicator on the front rotors and they were a little beyond the max runout.
Less than a year ago I put new ones on the front (torqued to spec) due to an indy shop screw up not putting the ABS bearing in for the front wheel which threw off the alignment and warped the first set. Now the new ones are warped to the point the vibrate when front brake applied - probably at over 40 mph or so and I don't know what would have caused it.
I have had grabbed a handful a few times in traffic but I wouldn't have thought the rotors were a "one use" item (joke attempt). Looking at new ones the HD are close to the cheapest and I am wondering why. This is looking at one piece rotors. Someone posted to me recently that one piece rotors have the least ability for heat management but damn, 6 - 7 K miles?? Might it the type of material makes a difference? Anyone else have rotor warp problems?
I had to replace my front rotor on my 2011 Superglide last fall,it had around 18,000kms,so I got a year and a half out of mine, they couldn't get me in so I went a month or so before I got it replaced, under warranty, but mine was really bad, they told me not to use it to much, but stopped short of grounding my bike and giving me a loaner.
I ride with my feet up alot and am front brake heavy most of the time, but I have the extend warranty as well so we'll just keep replacing them as need be.
