Hi, after determining my brake problem is from a warped rotor (Thanks Guys ) Now I need to replace my rear rotor on my 2004 RK classic.
What is a good value for my bike? Should I go floating ??? aftermarket ( I see biker choice for $95) etc.
BTW is it common for a rotor to warp just over 11K miles ??
Unfortunately with the Brembo calipers the rotors do tend to warp a lot more than they did with the pre 08 bikes, however the trade off is that the bike stops much better with the Brembo calipers.
A 2 piece rotor is much less likely to warp as the heat will dissipate from a 2 piece quicker than a 1 piece which will absorb all of the heat since it is one piece. Seeing as it is your rear rotor I would tend to think that you amy be on the rear brake a little too much as 99% of the warped rotors that we see are front rotors. You can probably pick up a stock take off super inexpensive on ebay.
I have floating rotors all round on my Glide, a Harley one on the rear. I found that was as cheap or slightly better than some alternatives and it should cure your warping for ever!
