You can connect it with the 3mm male/male cable stated above. You can't control the ipod using stock HD stereo controls without an obscenely expensive adapter. I use CD's with 130 MP3's on them.

Dont know which Ipod ya have but the solid state Nano model works much better for me than the others with the hard drive. I had problems with the other models skipping and shutting down due to vibration. The Nano has worked great. I attatch mine to the windshield/fairing bags with industrial velcrow and just run the cable along top of the bags to the Aux. plug in on the radio.

To achieve what gunner is talking about you need the Harley adapter or on the move technologies HDPDPLUS cheaper than Hd version and good quality product.

To say you can't control it with the stock stereo controls is not completely accurate.You can't select play lists or turn it on or off.You can turn it up and down and adjust bass/ treble, fade etc.I usually just start my ipod on shuffle or a good long playlist and go.
