Close to pulling the trigger and moving from my Softail Deluxe to the new Candy Orange Road Glide Custom. Super Excited about having a bike I can actually ride daily to work and to run errands, etc. That nose is something to grow accustomed to, but I dig it.
I'd imagine the RG Custom guys luv their rides. I'll be back to find recommended upgrades or changes
I owned a rg for a couple of years. Never could get over the ugly of that fairing. At 80+ mph it felt great. But if short errands and such is what your doing, the batwing feels like a much more nimble bike Imo....
Just bought mine last sat, I have never loved and inanimate object more......I have a smile on my face I think the whole time I ride it every time! Put Vance and Hines big shots on it with Arlen Ness big sucker and PCV which I'm still trying to find a map for, but other than that it's incredibly load..........best part was I passed my x-wife yesterday on my new bike with my new old lady on the back......priceless moment!

Prob I have is that I pass a SG every 2 minutes....well, 30 seconds. I'd admit that this was my choice, but there are just sooooo many of them here. I don't see many RGs.

watertrapper, I'm debating on whether I'll go with those types of expenses again. I did that on my softail...V&H, power commander, etc, etc. Well, my softail is 88ci....I'm thinking 103ci will be a big difference and that 6th gear will be even bigger.....so, why not just go with some Rhinehart slip ons for the "noise" and a simple stage 1?

what's this buffeting I keep hearing about? Is it bad? I used to get it on my softail with windshield installed. A buddy of mine bought another shield.."something-works" ...or will the stock one do fine?
Curious...if you didn't ride your Softail to work daily, for errands, etc...then why would a RGC change your riding style? Don't get me wrong, seal the touring deal, but 2-wheels are 2-wheels and the bike "type" shouldn't designate how & when you ride...JMO.

I always found it such a burden to throw on a backpack. I never added bags to the Deluxe. And I know I could do that and solve that problem. I'd prefer hard bags and sure I could probably do that with the deluxe if I wanted. I have to carry so much stuff to work and then the gym after work. Also, now that I'm retired from the military and have lots of time on my hands, I want to start riding with my buddies alot more. They meet up on weekends and ride for hours....my Deluxe just isn't as comfortable anymore on those ride. I rode my buddy's RG and it felt soooo comfortable.
I also want to ride more with my wife and want her to be alot more comfortable. I put her on the back of my buddy's RG and she said she felt like she was sitting on our couch.
I also have to admit that some of it is just that itch....i want the radio, i want the cruise control, i want those glove boxes for storage, i want that custom look from the rear end that looks so dang awesome.
