The custom from what i've heard it's not recommended to add all the weight from the king tourpaks based on impact on overall handling, that's why they built the RG ultra's.
The ultra is taller because of the suspension right? I thought, all along, that they made the ultra for the simple reason for people that wanted the full dress but in the glide version.
Been too busy to do anything but this weekend I am going to see whats around my area. Web sites are good but not accurate. Somebody said that too.
you can't really compare a cvo custom with a detachable rack to a ultra to a custom, cvo's have different (and a better suspension out of the gate).
Ultra's are 1/2" taller, sit on one and you'll see the difference right away but hey, like Uncle Si says "lookie here jack" if you want to ride, it's all based on what you are going to want to do in comparison of ultra to custom to custom with detachable racks.
I will say the overall look of the custom without the tourpak is bad to the bone and if you have cvo money the those bikes are freaking awesome!
Rossmeyer Harley Davidson in Ormond Beach has a pretty good selection of both RG and RG Ultras in all factory colors and options including at least one CVO. I was just there last night for their Bike Night event. I even spotted a Daytona Custom (their aftermarket upgraded (bling) model) on the showroom floor.
Wow. CWO USN, sound cool. Would be interested to see what a Daytona Custom looks like....
I cant justify the cost of a CVO right now. Love them and would buy the orange / gray in a heartbeat if I could. Of all the ones out there for sale, are you seeing MSRP prices or MSRP ++? I know my luck, I will find what I want close to me and the stealership will want 30K for it!!
FWIW last Friday B&B Harley in Nutter Fort WV had that candy orange RG on the showroom floor. They are about 30 min south of Morgantown. Triple S in Morgantown had 3 RG's but no candy orange.

Pig Trail Harley Davidson has one in Rogers AR. today anyway.
