Hey guys, just got a new 2013 street glide last month and im sorry to say i am disappointend,
It seems there is a problem with some of the models, the fuel line check valves are bad, mine has been replaced twice. Causing power loss, it also seems the tank is flakeing off internally persay, causing low fuel pressure due to the fact its getting clogged by these particals..
also the headers are turning a bright blue / purple color... i guess this thing has been burning lean.
it always has had a power issue but the dealer says just break it in as normal, that was before the founded issue.
my question to anyone out there is? is anyone else having a problem with the new harleys?
my dealer says their hands are tied and are waiting on harley to come and take a look at this issue there are like 36 plus bikes doing this here in ohio.
I'm concerned for sure, i want a new tank, new fuelump new everything that concerns the fule system. i want new injectors. new pipes...
im wondering what are my options this bike is barley a month old...
I cant believe this is happening really...
if anyone can enliten me on any of these issues great! but other wise if your going to be getting a new model i would ask about these issues ..
I havent seen hardley anything on these issues internet wise yet....
I have worked in a dealership for the last 3 yrs. and never heard about any of the things you mention on the newer bikes like yours..Also there is NO way your stock outer heat shields are turning colors, no way. If you are talking about the pipes themselves UNDER the shields, get a life and put the shields back on and ride... ALL pipes turn colors from the heat.
I don't think they are going to give you a new bike.
My friend had a problem like that one time. He took it in to the dealer 5 times, each time it took 10 days to 2 weeks before he got it back. He was getting really upset because they didn't have the ability or the will to fix the bike. So he goes down to the dealer and loads it up in the back of his truck and heads home about 50 miles on the interstate. Somewhere along the way the bike mysteriously falls out of the truck and bounces along the concrete a half dozen times at 75 mph before coming to rest.
The adjuster comes out the next day and writes him a check for a totaled bike.
Welcome to the touring forum. The pipe turning blue is normal breaking in, all of em do it. If its been in twice now for the check valve issue did the dealer verify the flaking inside the tank or are you assuming this? You said it SEEMS like its flaking. Sounds like you are taking an educated guess and have not seen it. If its is flaking internally, why dont you ask for a new tank? These new bikes are reliable if taken care of, never heard of so many issues as you describe on a bike so new. I had mine in for its 5000 service and the service writer noticed a bubble/flaw (like a piece of dust or someting under the paint/clear) I never noticed before, new tank under warranty no problems, just took a month for it to get there, lol. I dont see why they cant replace your tank with a new one, replace the check valve/lines again, maybe new injectors and be done, bike should run new again. Good luck with your glide man.

13 ultra limited 3000 miles and no issues. The inner fairing did hit the tank when turned completely to the right or left. It made a small flaw on each side of the tank. Dealer ordered me a new tank no questions asked and adjusted the turn stops, so no more contact.
I'm questioning the validity of this post.......maybe a Victory or metric dealer?????? I'm not accusing, just questioning..
What's supposedly flaking in the tank? The metal? Lol
I've heard of NONE of these issues on any Harley or touring bike. The touring bikes use the same components and Harley's use te same process to treat tins.
