Harley spec on teh rotors on teh baggers with Brembo's is .008". Sometimes you can turn the rotors if the runout is minimal to make it better but using a large crescent wrench on a truing stand with a dial indicator is how we do it here. It works great on 1 piece rotors. 2 piece rotors depend on how they are attached together whether or not you can tweak them back into spec.
2 piece rotors that are bolted together without any spring clips are not a problem but those that utilize a cog drive system or the spring clips really can't be tweaked effectively.
The best rotors I have found are the Lyndall carbon composites. I run them on teh Dyna with Brembo's and they have performed excellently for 12K miles or so. I'll get a set for my bagger when I decide what kind of caliper setup I am going to do. They are pricey but come with a lifetime warranty so that makes the price of admission worth it.
They are light as a feather and cool much quicker than any other kind of rotor on the market. So what I am saying is if you don't ever want to deal with a warped rotor again grab a set of the Lyndall carbon composites.
Starting to sound like the new service steps are: Change oil, replace filter, straighten rotors.
I haven't had this issue (knock on wood!) but I sure do appreciate the tip on truing them back up!
