I have the 25284-11cam plate. It seems it is setup to take any cam that works on 99-06 models that utilize the bearings in teh cam plate as opposed to the newer style plate which has eliminated those bearings. So it seems a cam that fits 00-06 is what I need.
No doubt the SE204 is a great performer with a stock compression. With the OP's 10.25:1 compression the SE204 is going to build a lot of cylinder pressure and may have some detonation issues.
Another cam that may work well is the Andrews 37. It, like the Andrews 26 is "an oldie but a goodie". As I recall the 37 liked a little more compression.
The S&S 570 would still be my first choice. I ran a similar S&S510G in my '02 FLHRCI that had a 95" with head work but it was a 9.7:1 compression. That was a sweet running twinkie.
I run the 37 in my Dyna and the power band is not what I am looking for on my bagger. My concern with the 26"'s is that it says it is for stock compression. How will my higher 10.25:1 cr affect this cam?
You need to remember though that running 10.25 comp you will need a later closing cam to keep cylinder pressure down or you will be the King of Detonation. You don't want that. So with that kind of compression I'd think a TW6 or the SS570 would be a good fit.
Andrews 37 & 50 will work with stock heads/springs but may be not enough for your compression?? Wood 408-48 or Lunati 21740703 may work well if ya don't want to do any head work.
I have discovered that the springs in 05 heads can accommodate a higher lift cam than my other bike which is an 02. Regardless, someone elsewhere mentioned the 4 degree advance would really move things to the left torque wise. High compression is all new to me. All of other builds have been less than 10:1 compression.
I like the idea with the easy start cams from S&S but it seems their power band does not really kick in until 3000 rpms too. Anyone else have suggestions? Thanks.
I know you said you don't want a late tq cam. But the Andrews 54 love high compression. I have them in 2010 96" with just head work. Stock push rods and stock lifters, gutted head pipes and American custom slip-ons, and ACR's. I just had it dynode last week. 96 hp and 96lb tq.
