I have a 2012 FLHX. Arlen Ness Stage 1 Air cleaner. OEM header pipes without CAT, and DBI slip on fish tails with 2.5" baffles, and Power Commander 5. Been experiencing hard/rough starts for quite some time. I follow the standard harley procedures for starting the bike as described in the owners manual. The bike takes numerous revolutions for it to kick over. I decided to disconnect the PCV, replug my O2 connectors and try the bike. It started up normally EVERY time. I contacted the folks from Power Commander and they performed a remote desktop support. The tech ran some updates to both firmware/software, played with a bunch of settings, had me reconnect the PCV, then had me start the bike as soon as I turned the igntion to run, without waiting for the bike to finish priming and it fired right up! I was over joyed! However, that was the only time it did that! He had me try it several more times and each time it started after numerous revolutions. When it did fire, he noticed in cylinder 1, Fuel, under %throttle, it moved from o to 10/15% and the RPM range went from 500 to around 1750. He kept mentioning something about the "blade control" "IAC" and the ECM and how it shouldn't be doing that? After all was said and done, he said that the PCV is waiting on a "power signal" from the ECM and that it's normal for it to take a few revolutions of the motor before it actually starts. Right now, it takes 3 revolutions before it kicks over. Is anyone else experiencing such symptoms?
I've tried it that way, and every other way you can think of and I've yet been able to duplicate/replicate the starting process. It starts how it wants to start. at times, on the first push of the button, others, it cranks for a few revolutions thens fires up. Nothing is ever consistant.
i have the same problem i wait for it to prime and all that good stuff it will crank like 3 times and then it will kick over. i always give it a little gas and she pops off. im waiting to have the bike put on a dyno still.
Normally with the POWER Comander V, hit the run button then imediatly hit the stater button dont wait for the fuel pump to stop..
It doesn't have to have a PCV for this to work. Every bike I have tried it on will start better if you start it immediately and not wait. Try it you will like it. Have you every waited to start your car. Same system. Diesel being the exception and they will start without waiting if warmed up.

I've tried this with the motor warm and it did not like it at all. Basically puked, sputtered, clacked, rattled and died with a big final pffffeeew out the air cleaner. Funny as hell to the other folks getting gas, to me not so much. Maybe a little.
same issue here, have pcv have tried starting right after the run button, tried waiting for it to prime, warm cold,it doesnt matter, sometimes it fires right up other times it coughs/sputters it is also a 12 flhx
I have the same troubles with my 2010 FLHX. I was told that Harley is having trouble with the fuel line inside the tank and it is too long and gets pinholes in it from rubbing on the tank. The remedy is a shorter hose. My remedy is gas, a rag and a match. I have had a horrible experience with HD and will NEVER buy another one.
