you don't want to run lean all the time, its no good for your engine, its just gonna run hot.

you don't need a dyno neccesarily either if your not doing engine modem just the stage 1., if its running lean, get or use a tuner and adjust your bike to less lean.

lots of options and opinions on how to do that, but a dyno is probably overkill in your case.

I've been talking to my right hand too but it ain't listening...wide open all the way

I am not comfortable driving around in 2nd gear.

Any thoughts on adding the Cobra Powerpro?

Then go faster. I can't imagine HD service people told you it's ok to cruise at 2,000. All of the experts on this board have given their opinion. A new tuner isn't going to allow you to lug the engine.

i run the same exhaust and breather you do. i have a pc-v in it. you should call fuel moto get a power commander then have it dynoed. till then i would just downshift and keep it around 2500 rpm's. im not understanding the 2nd gear comment because i can run 3rd gear at 2300 rpm's at 30 mph just fine. also i had a cobra unit on my last bike( a suzuki) and i find the power commander alot more user freindly. you can change the cobra but it takes alot of jacking around to get it right. id just call fuel moto then will send you a pc-v with it mapped already

All of these suggestions are good suggestions. I also agree that a dyno is not necessarily needed either with a new tuner and a canned map. Don't think the Stage 1 or the 89 octane gas is the culprit either. It's just my opinion but I think with the bike being put away for the winter and your riding style, the problem could very likely be that the plugs are corroded or possibly even fouled. But...I've been wrong before. It's worth a few minutes of your time to pull em out and see.

Not mine. In 3rd gear, holding the throttle at a steady 30mph I sit right at 2000rpms.

They did not tell me to cruise at 2000rpms. They say to run my RPMs higher but in 3rd gear at 30 or 35 mph that's where it runs. They told me to drop a gear then but I am not cool with running around in 2nd gear. I am installing the new Cobra Powerpro auto tuner this weekend. I will also check if my plugs are fouled.

What don't you like about running in second gear at 30 mph? Or is it higher rpms at any speed you don't like?
