I (and Wifey) recently went on a mini vacation to gulf shores.
1907 miles on the bike round trip, mostly at 80mph on my speedo. however i was keeping up with birmingham traffic and glanced down and saw 95 + on my speedo!!
I got home and looked at my front tire and it was very badly worn.
I knew the tire wasn't the best before we left, but it was SO much worse on the post trip inspection.
so I ordered some new front and rear tires and when they got here I took the old rims and tires off the bike.
Thats when I found the Very notchy front wheel bearings!!
I dont think they could have been found without removing the front wheel.
I am so glad they didn't let go in the middle of birmingham or anywhere for that matter!!!
so I guess mark mine as another 09 ultra with bad wheel bearings.
$90 at the stealership for new ones installed with the rim off the bike.
How in the hell are all these bearings going bad? Why is there not some sort of recall. This is a life safety issue. In all my 37 years of riding, I up until now never heard of bearing problems.
Op if you were to have it fail at 80mph the outcome quite possibly would have been tragic. Would the moco take responsibility? I can't believe the moco has not addressed this problem that so many seem to be having. Come on HD step up.
