The oil will drip from the small filter also when it's wet enough, right?
I would like some small diameter black hoses with those fitting that can be tied together with a T fitting and routed through the heads, back towards the rear of the bike and down the opening in the back of the primary case. The black hose would be almost invisible unless your bikes engine is chromed out to the max.
VENDORS PLEASE TAKE NOTICE....I'm sure a kit like that would be a big seller......
It seems like it would gradually spit out enough oil that it would eventually stop.
But, it doesn't.
I know it's a pain in Thea's but it really doesn't bother me all that much. It only does it when I run her a little hard.
I keep an old sock in the side bag and just wipe it off when I stop.
Everyone I ride with that has aftermarket type filters gets the same deal...
I checked my oil level prior to having the dealer check it, and it was exactly where it shows in the manual. I had the dealer check it because they replaced the umbrellas in the rocker box last fall because of oil in the filter when they did the 5k service. I thought that it may be that again but they said no. They ran it on the dyno for 55 miles with just the backing plate and supposedly nothing came out. When the mechanic took it off the dyno and rolled it back to his station they took me back and there was oil coming out of the rear vent hole which he said was normal because the motor was off. I will check the oil again but the mechanic did not think that it was high. Are you guys checking oil cold? I have the extreme rinehart duals and that is the only way that I can check it without getting burned. I also check it upright on the ez up stand. Thanks for the replies.
You have too much oil in the crankcase. More than 3 1/2 quarts and the motor will spit it out the breather
Yep, I agree 100%, there needs to be some room in the cases for breathing room, that's why the B motors don't have this problem (balancers create more area in the cases). With 3.5 qts my oil line is 1/4" up the flat part of the stick (cold, on kickstand) That flat part on the dipstick is approx. 1" long.
I just checked the oil. It is 8 dots above the "add" line on the side stand. It is down 2 sets of the dots where I marked it when I took it out after winter storage and after the 5K service. It is also 1 1/4" above the bottom of the dipstick cold. Does this sound like the level is too high?
