Help with Voltmeter not working

May or may not be a dumb question. I have a 2012 Street Glide and installed an aftermarket amp and speakers. A good friend of mine installed the crossovers and amp( he's head car installation guy at Best Buy, 20 years installing car stereos). Everything was working fine. other day my Voltmeter gauge isn't registering anything. Took it to Harley because its still under warranty and they give me the run around saying its probably because I have all these added accessories. I'm like they were all working fine, the rest of my gauges work perfectly, just no Voltmeter. What would my amp and speakers have to do with that? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Pull your outer fairing off. Check for loose wires that should go to the voltmeter. My guess is something got unplugged.

agree. electrical will usually fry right away. poke around and see what is toast on your own then see if they will cover it

get your best buy Pal back to look it over if you aren't sure.

it is only 2 wires...1 is hot when ignition is on, the other is ground

thanks guys, pulled fairing off, wires were all fine and snug. Is there a way to check the gauge to see if its bad?

sure.. take a battery and run 2 wires to the gauge..

if you have a battery tender pigtail check voltage there with a voltmeter to see if it is charging.same issue on my bike they blamed my medallation gauges i installed for me have a charging issue.
