Default 04 RK questions

I am looking at an 04 FI RK and I have a couple questions.

1. the heel part of the heel toe shifter is missing, anyone know where I can get one inexpensively?

2. bike has no mods aside from slip on Screaming Eagle mufflers, any thing to be concerned about at 24,000 miles?

3. the front tire (and probably back) spokes are kinda cruddy, are they fairly easy to clean up or is it a lost cause

4. do the leather looking RK bags keep the water out?

Thanks for the help!

First I would ask about the camchain tensioners and if they had been upgraded from the spring loaded style to Harleys upgrade kit with Hydraulic tensioners. I just did a build on my 01 RK with 22,000 miles and changed out the tensioners etc. they were in pretty bad shape.

My leather RKC bags stay dry inside so far. I am sure if you ride in bad enough they may get some water

Too bad youre not here in Cali. Im selling a 04 RK custom that I switched to hard bags and added chrome front end with Classic passing lights, 9 spoke black/polished rims and vivid black paint. Bone stock except for V&H Ture Duals, also has the rear shifter and the bags are waterproof.

1. the heel part of the heel toe shifter is missing, anyone know where I can get one inexpensively? Should be able to order directy from HD

2. bike has no mods aside from slip on Screaming Eagle mufflers, any thing to be concerned about at 24,000 miles? As others have said...Check the cam chain tensioners and either go with the new HD set up or install gear driven cams and forget about it...You can do this as long as the crank runout is within tolerance.

3. the front tire (and probably back) spokes are kinda cruddy, are they fairly easy to clean up or is it a lost cause. They are a pain in the *** to clean keep clean but once they're clean they sure look good. I use the westley's bleche white and spoke brush to clean mine...It does a really good job.

4. do the leather looking RK bags keep the water out? Yes, I've never had issues with water getting into mine and I've ridden through some significant rain showers when touring.

Thanks - any idea what it costs to replace/fix the tensioners?
