I would just get one of the Chinese Tourpacks and quick detach mount. Won't be much more $ and is great lockable storage with a back rest for those trips when ya need extra storage. A lot less hassle than strap on bags ya have to worry about falling off or getting stolen.

Just retired my set with about 80K on them. Sun faded and fabric wind chaffed. But, they were well worth the 9 years of use out of them. Bungee cord nets really make it stable. They were on a Deuce at one time with the small rack. (Made a small rigid piece of plastic to put in the bottom of the bag), Dyna, SG with a airwing rack, etc. I would zip tie the two bags together for long hauls.
I did step up and buy a new set of HD. Very similar setup.
