static in cb
I have been using my CB more on group rides and have a lot of static on my CB , I can turn the squelch up and get rid of it but afraid I am going to lose reception , I have a HID headlight and that seems to be the problem as I can turn it off and get rid of the static , looking for ideas to fix it other than changing my headlight
If any part of the HID circuit is emitting wideband RF garbage, then you may be screwed. If it's simply a condition of wires coupling, then it's possible that some ferrite toroids of the appropriate material may work to suppress the noise.

A good material to suppress 0-50mhz rf is the ferrite torroids made from K material. They can be found at Amidon Associates following this link:

It can work if the problem resides in coupling between wires or feedlines or if a particular wire is acting as an antenna.
A lot of guys are running audio amps in their bikes and are experiencing interference from those amps. As I said in my original post, it depends on the type and source of the interference as to how you attack it.
You can take the shotgun approach and use ferrite chokes on all leads going into the amp and out of the amp. That should go a long way toward suppressing some of the noise. You will need a different material in the ferite because the FM broadcast band runs from 87 MHz to 108 MHz while CB operates on 26 MHz to a little over 27 MHz.
I would suggest the 43 material from Amidon if I were trying to suppress noise in the FM broadcast band.
