Default Doe collision

Sun morning, just left the interstate and traveled north on Rt 31,NJ heading up to my brother's place, in Hopewell township. Wanted to show him the new scoot, less than 500 miles and loving it.
About a half mile up 31 noticed three deer on a front lawn to the right, began slowing down {wife on board} on doe decided to leep from where she was standing and pretty much landed on my front fender. Took the full brunt of hit on front end, did not drop bike, kinda a slow speed impact if you will. No injuries to humans, wife said deer rolled into woods, hurting I guess.
Assessed the damage, see link, and continued to my bros.while there we lifted front end to check things out, all seemed ok.
Called insurance co, said adjuster would contact in two days, my question, should I run bike over to the "Steeler" and get a price from them.there going to do the work anyway. I have $500 deducible and well just for whiz and giggles what they say.
Thanks

I would just take it to the dealer and tell insurance where it is. Let them work together. The dealer will be your best advocate for getting a top dollar repair.

Gotta ask .... did you have deer whistles?

Really two days? WTF kind of insurance company is that? Looks like you got lucky and relatively unscathed. Good luck, and yes I would go by the dealer it's going to be there anyway to get fixed.

When I have dealt with insurance company's they made it a priority to get it taken care of ASAP.

Very fortunate you had no injuries. Maybe slow down a little more when you see deer and they can see you??

Definitely take it to the dealer. Let them give it a good going over and if possible get a written quote. Good thing you took the initiative to slow down! I would consider yourself very lucky you didnt drop the bike

Definetly get a dealer quote. You'll have to wait for painted front fender from HD which takes 4-8 weeks usually. You may want to get estimate, have dealer fix turn signal and then take home and get local body shop pound it out so you can ride til new fender arrives. There are those no paint pro dent guys who can work that dent up without even taking your fender off if you can find one in your area or just go old school without a fender. Just some thoughts on getting you on the road while you wait. A good painter could match but being a brand new bike I would get a new one fr. HD.

Glad you and wife are OK.

Glad yall are ok first of all. I would take it to the dealer and let them work with the insurance company. Ask them to do a detailed estimate, never know, fairing might be cracked or something inside jarred loose. Bikes can be replaced, we cant. Hope you can at least ride it while you are waiting on the parts to get there. Good luck.

Glad you and your wife were not hurt in the HD/Deer contact. Sucks to have incidents like that happen.
Got deer in our neighborhood, and we are about a mile from the interstate.
