Thanks for this post. It inspired me. I think I may be adding a pair of fishtails. Any suggestions to add on to my V&H True Duals.
Currently have Ovals and love the rumble. What is the sound like on the fishtails?

I have the SE Street Performance Touring Mufflers with the fishtail endcaps. I like the overall style, but I think it's a bit exaggerated for a true retro look. I like the looks of some of the others on this post better. But I think the SE mufflers should fit the true duals just fine. As for sound, I think they are perfect - deep rumble, and not too loud. These mufflers started out quiet, but once the packing settled down/blew out/burnt in they developed a really fine sound.

bobros,

I wish your name was as easy to rememberas your incredible bike! I've mentioned to others the great job you did with your Deluxe...and personally, I can't think of many other bikes on the forum that have captured the essence of an 'old school' V-Twin like yours has.

I'd sure like to hear your thoughts on a RKC...that has been the whole point behind this particular thread.

Take care.
Thanks Whiskers. I would have even thought about getting a RK had I not saw your bike. I've always had a love for the Duoglide and electraglide. Do you (or anyone) have any nude pics of your bike (without the bags)? If you took you saddlebags off, would you rear fender look similar to this? And what's behind the shock cover of the RKC?

Although mine isn't a touring model, I have been keeping my eye on this thread for some time. I really enjoy the true old school as well. Hope you all don't mind me keeping this thread alive.

With respect to all other models, the Road King Classic is the ultimate in motorcycle styling. The look will never go out of style.

I wanted to get opinions on hand grips - I have been looking at all of the H-D offerings and keep coming back to the "Nostalgic" series like rgardjr has. I see the Kury ISO's on and billet grips on some bikes here also. What grips represent the classic look best?

bobros: for bagless RKs look at: http://www.bruisersinc.com/index.htmlBagless is a love it/hate itlook for a RK. Easier to keep the versatility of the bags than clean up what they cover, IMO. Fat-tire Springers, like SKT's fine example, would probably be a better start for an old school bagless look than a RK.

stukes_md: the Nostalgic grips not only have an old school look, but the shape isgreatfor comfort. Since thebars put my hands at a slight angle, the Nostalgic grip's tapered shape compensatesfor the less perfect ergonomics. (check my album for pics)

hbsoldier3:cool paint on your FLHP, I haven't seen white-toppedhard bags before. Your bike says "mid-60s Electraglide" to me. As a suggestion: paint the headlight nacelle blue and the rear fender to match the front. If you're going for a mid-60's feel, your FLHP needs relatively few chrome goodies to complete the look -see: fishtail muffs and details like Whiskers and Pastor John
