Wow! I can't believe I hadn't seen this thread before! I pretty much don't pay attention to the "stickie" threads but I'm glad I found this one. I just now posted some pics of my bike in the main forum before I found this thread.
Some REALLY nice bikes here and right up my alley. I have had my '09 for about a month now and am already working on making it sort of "modern vintage". Just adding some classic cues to it not attempting to clone a vintage FL per se. I'm planning to add some bars that fit that idea soon and also want to get to work on designing and fabricating a spring solo seat and fender mounted pillion pad. There's a guy that makes a kit but IMO it's too expensive and doesn't look as clean as it could under the seat. I'm also going to change out my exhaust in the near future as well. The Fuelmoto Jackpots I have are nice but I'm not crazy about the look or sound.
I have an '07 RKC, I have always loved the classic styling which is why I have the RK. I am currently running the Dunlop white walls but am thinking of going back to th Avon Gangster white walls, I had them on a Heritage I had a few years ago. Does anyone have thoughts on the Gangster white walls by Avon?

I've asked around(on here too) and never get a response. I love the look but wondered about the upkeep with the raised lettering. Seems it would show too much and be a catcher for dust and dirt.
What was your experience?
Cleaning, PITA?
Handling, squirmy?
Traction, slippery when wet?
I didn't think the load rating was that high either. I'd read they were for restorations more so than modern bikes.
Pricey buggers too.
Awhile back in this thread (not sure what page), someone posted a bike with the Gangters. I inquired about them , and they advised that they were very poor in regards to traction and handling.

Maxxis makes a similar tire.
Keeping them clean wasnt any worse than any other white wall tire that I have had and they rode fine. However not sure about the load rating though. I havent ran them since 2002 but dont remember any issues I had with the way the handled.
If you want to ride a classic HD, Get a classic Hd. I'm talking a real Harley F@#$%^ing Davidson. God, I feel old. Just an old man's rant. cole
I have been riding a 51 pan for over tweenty years now, & have just bought a new RKC. I will alway like my panhead, but I love my Road king. I bought the road knig because it reminds me of my pan. check out the pic of them both getting along. they live under the same roof, my garage. Nothing wrong with having electric start 12 volt light & oh yeah a 6 speed tranny.
