I have a 2013 SG and have installed 4" RC Component Slip-Ons. I am thinking about de-catting the head pipes for a little more sound. Will I need to get it re-mapped or tuned or will it be ok without that. Wifes getting mad cause I keep spending money on a bike that just cost us 20K+ (which i dont blame her)

Need to? Probably not assuming the current state of tune is reasonably close, the part changes are within reason, and you don't have any expectation of better performance.
With that said, bikes come from the factory with a stock, one-size-fits-all map. Depending on the program used to access the ECM's many tuning tables, one can far more accurately set those tables to a specific bike's setup and rider needs.
My suggestion would be spend some time studying the HD EFI system to better understand how it works, what can be done to modify its running parameters, and how all that relates to performance and longevity not to mention getting the bike to run how YOU want it to.
May as well get it all over at once... get duals, a big sucker and a tuner. You're going to end up there anyway and you can't avoid the Harley tax. Just tell her that we said it was ok..then DUCK!

+1
Get 'er done! Seriously, stock with no mods would benefit from a bit richer tune. But you're going doing more anyway. Do it now and get it over with:-)
Thanks for the input. I know there are several forums on here but I couldnt find any with the RC Component Slip Ons. With that being said, I'm going to relay the message to my wife so this may be my last post....
As I was driving my 13 Street Glide home from the dealer with 2 miles on her I made up my mind right away to decatt the head pipe, put on a set of 4 inch slip ons and put on a high flow air cleaner. Yea you have to get a tuner and remapp it but if you want to do it, do it right the first time. Sounds like a Harley but not too loud over the tunes. Love mt SG

this question comes up every month or so.
what makes you think that the bike was tuned brand new stock? They all come with the same tune (or detune) from the factory. How many have actually put a tuner on a stock bike before any changes? most will not tune a bike until they add cams, that is after running with slip on and high flow AC.
so if you believe the factory tune was good with the stock parts, then change parts, at what point does it need a re tune?
