I tried to drill out the rivet and it spun and cut the crap out of the strap before I got it drilled out. Got it off but basically made the strap unusable later. Should have just cut it.

the only thing wrong with cutting or drilling the strap, after you remove the strap, you still have the bracket just sitting there, doing nothing.... might as well get rid of that too, and for that, you'll need a wrench might as well do it that way from the start.
I just purchased the Mustang Super Touring seat. While taking off the stock seat I couldn't figure out how to take the seat strap off of the one side. So I just cut it off. Wondering if there was a way to properly take it off if I would have been patient enough to look up how to do it.
