Riding home from the Stake and Lube, and a couple pulls up next to me saying my saddle bag lid popped of. I was only doing about 35 when it happened. Pulled over and another couple brought it to me, I really appreciated that.
It looks like there are four rivets on the hinge, and they all came out clean. I really don't think the lid was fastened incorrectly, I think the hinges just popped. I have had a lid come open at highway speeds and not lost it, but this one just came flying off, so the people behind me say.
I'm not looking to get over, but I am wondering if this could be covered under the ESP?
Just wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience.
2010 FLHX
i found that 4 of the 5 button head screws had fallen out of my lid while me and wifey were at gulf shores a month ago. i had no clue anything was wrong . i guess i got lucky and saw #4 hit the ground. went to target and bought a $10 multi bit driver that had a t15 bit and made sure that the others were tight. when i got home i went to the dealer and bought the missing three screws.... they were $1.32 for all three. the parts guy said "i cant believe you bought three of anything for a harley and got out of here for under two bucks
!!!"
