Saddle bag lid came off!
I dont know if this has been covered but this morning my hinge fell off of my lid on my right bag. It has had a rattle that I havent been able to find while riding...and now I know what it was. It seems that the torx screws that hold the latch/hinge to the lid have been slowly backing out untill there was just 1 out of 5 left. That one came out this morning. Went to HD and got some new torx screws, what a pain to do. I found out EVERY wrong way to assemble the bag hinge/latch combo.
The lesson...check the tightness of your torx screws on your bags. Happy ridin!!

I hate that rattle ya can't find. Makes you want to completely disassemble the bike and put it back together. Hope it didn't happen on the road. Adding new paint would turn out to be more costly thanI would want to do. Glad you got it fixed and seems there was no harm done. And best of all, if it happens again, you know how to fix it in a timely manner. Peace!

My bike has developed a rattle lately and I cannot find it. After reading your post, I checked my hinges and they are all tight. I thought maybe it was the stupid dealer license plate cover, so I took that off and that is not the problem either.

How much were the screws at the Harley dealer? Can you get the screws from anywhere else? I have checked Lowes and Home Depot. Neither have the 6/32" x .25" screws. At least not in Norfolk \ Va. Beach.

Lot of vibration in/on the hard saddlebags. I checked mine with the mod that I did to my saddlebags and found that all the little screws were loose..and that was at barely 1100 miles...
