I added a tour pac and touring seat to my custom. Easy to change back to the original look. Definitely get the color you want. I chose black because black bikes are faster.
get the custom the colors and graphics are better , you can add what ever you want when you need it
+1 on getting the color you want and the graphics are better on the Custom! I got Vivid Black because I kept the King TP, Chopped TP & Fairing Lowers off my 07 FLHT. Shock adjustment & seat change will make a world of difference for your passenger.
New rider here. Renting bikes to help make decision on what to buy. RIght now I'm thinking about an RG. Undecided whether custom or ultra. Love the looks of the custom, but the wife's comment was it 'rides like a log wagon'. What are some ways to improve the passenger ride without sacrificing the looks/stance of the custom?
Get what you want and have them put on the premium adjustable shocks on it. I can't believe the difference.
I was looking at the custom, but looked at what came with the ultra and dropped the hammer on the ultra. For only a few thousand more, it comes standard with ABS, intercom, tour pack, lowers, saddlebag liners, tool kit. I made the tour pack detachable, and purchased a corbin seat. I am happy with it, trimmed down and rides better then the custom because it does not have the lower suspension, plus i enjoy the lowers more then i thought i would, and the wife is happy when i put it on when she rides. If money is not an option you can add everything except the intercom and ABS i believe. Depends what you are really looking for. I have no regrets.
The ultra is "more bang for the buck" but taking the tourpack off and changing the seat does not a custom make. If it's about looks ya can't beat a custom. Amazing how Harley can charge more for so much less just because of the look? Seats/bars/screens/shocks are easy/normal changes. Adding tourpacks and lowers are alittle more.
It comes down to buying the "custom" for the color you like....
or buying the "ultra" for the extra goodies and a color you aren't happy with.
If you don't like the color of your bike (ultra) you will never be happy and enjoy the ride.
What will it cost you to add the seat / tour pak / lowers / floor boards to the custom ?
What will it cost to alter the paint on the ultra to make you happy ??
