OK, my 2012 DG has less than 6000 miles. I have replaced the front tire twice because of cracking sidewalls. i am getting ready to go on a trip in 2 weeks and decided to check them again...and yes they are cracking again. This will be the 4th front tire in a year. No more of this. Has anyone that has had this problem multiple times had any luck with changing model and/brands of tires and not having to pay for it? Dunlop knows there is an issue here. Calling dealer and Dunlop first thing in the am.
i think there was a thread about tire sidewalls cracking a month or so ago. it turned out it was likely the detergant that the individual was using in cleaning the tires. might have been dawn or something. can't remember for sure. check your solution that you are cleaning the tires with. it might be dryng them out and causing them to crack.
They have a lot of run acid from strip mines in KY. Since motorcycle tire installation is not under the tire manufactory warranty, think I would be checking out the dough boy tire.. You know what you see when he bends over? Donuts..

"born date" is a 4 digit number embossed in the sidewall giving the week and year the tire was built. Example: 0513 5th week of 13. While not likely, there is a chance they have given him a second tire from the same production run that had all of the trouble.
The OP did not say if his bike is parked outside or inside, and if outside, is it always facing the same way.The right sidewalls typically get more sun than the left sides because of the way the bikes lean on the jiffy stands.
