Default multi-pocket fairing pouch (3 pockets)

Just purchased the multi-pocket fairing pouch for my FLHTCU and have the following question: the pockets don't have drain holes through the bracket. Assuming water gets into the pockets, how do they drain?

Was thinking about drilling drain holes through the bracket & pocket.

I've thought that leather had a wicking capability. If you put a hole in the bottom I'd think that any water dripping down the sides could wick into the the inside through your drain hole!

I would not drill a hole in anything leather that you want to keep water out.

If you think that it is getting wet inside from the top not sealing. Take a paper towel, draw a line on it with a dry maker pen or magic marker and then put it folded up into the bottom of each pouch. If it is getting wet that marker will run all over into the paper towel.

Then what ever you put into the pouch keep in a plastic zip lock, until you can get the leather treated with a weather guard to help water prof it better.

First if the cover is closed little water gets in them, 2) if it does just open & wipe out[sm=confused06.gif]

Didn't have any water problems in mine. I used them a lot. Great place to put the key while riding, and store the glasses. I stopped using mine when I got the painted inner fairing. Didn't want to cover up the pretty! I DID have the scuffed windshield problem that Johnny talked about.I heard there was supposed to be a clear plastic protective strip included with the pouch. The dealer put mine on when I bought the bike and picked it up, so I don't know if that is a fact or not. You should be able to get some of that clear shipping tape to cover the contact points.

Just installed it, without drilling any drain holes, will monitor it closely. Mine did ship with the clear shipping tape andinstalled per instructions. Then I read Johnny and your posting andrealized that the clear shipping tape if installed correctly will stop the scuff marks. Following the installation instructionsof the tape, I believe it isn'tthe correct place to prevent scuffing. It should have been higher to meet the contact points.
will visit walmart and a few stores looking for clear tape today..

thanks to all of you.

just exactly how does one see these scuff marks with the pouch installed? yea, when I take my seat off I find where it rubbs against the tank and scuffs the paint. so far I almost always need the seat to ride. unless you are planning to install and then practice removing the pouches, some rub marks on the plastic shouldn't be an issue.

I have one on mine and have never had any water problems even after washing the bike. As already stated great for sunglasses and I keep my garage door opener in mine.
