Shoot, I think I may have the dreaded thermal switch issue. PM'd to get put on the list and offered my services as a tester. I ride a fair amount throughout all 4 seasons.
I'm making up for lost time as I just started riding again after 30 years. I'd ride even more but work keeps interrupting.
Thermal switch issue or not, I love this fan! I have a 2013 FLHTK and when the bike got hot (traffic mostly), it was "ping city". My 88 (smaller motor, I know), didn't have an issue.
But the pinging was so frequent and intense, I was afraid to ride it. Took it to dealer for a checkout and was told "remove the cat".
I'm a fair mechanic, but I got a little burned out with my last project (57 Chevy). Your wife easily finds out that you bought a lot of stuff when Summit Racing sends you a Christmas present.
Harleys aren't the only vehicles that have issues with aftermarket restoration/upgrade parts. Used up all my patience, I think as I just drop kicked a blender yesterday that had a toggle switch not toggling.
So, I bought this bike to ride and not work on it. The fans were on in 30 minutes and the difference was like night and day. Me and the bike were happily sweltering away in traffic with absolutely no pinging. I was shocked. Not once did I go into heat mode. Best money I ever spent on any aftermarket part.

Ha ha, thanks my intent was to apologize and get the thread back on track. I don't worry about the few that resort to name calling. I've got thick skin from being a law enforcement officer for the past 26 years.
You sound more like a psychiatrist.....lol Diplomatic!
Jason i have about 18000 miles on your fan with the thermal switch and have had no issues whatsoever. Strange to hear of these "problems" ... Either way if there are problems out there, your fans are a work of art and perform excellent. I still get questions about them wherever i park her.. It is great to hear that you are working on a resolution even before there seems to be any "mass issue". Great business ethics. it goes a long way.
Thank you very much Jason. I am no iron butt rider but as I said in my PM I ride about 50 miles round trip to work every day with about 8 miles being bumper to bumper traffic. It'll be switching on and off a lot.
On the way home a couple of days each week I blast past my house on the turnpike and head another 30 miles into the mountains and spend an hour or two up there before going back home, so on good weeks and weekends I'll put around 450 miles or so on the bike. Not as much as some guys but a fair amount.
The mountain rides are great stress reducers and make up for the bumper to bumper crap.

It shouldn't switch on and off frequently. Even with the original creep switch it shouldn't switch on and of during operation. Only bike I ever saw it switch with the engine running was my Brother's EVO, it would cycle the fans every few minutes while sitting at idle. With the TC once the fans come on they stay on until engine shut down. Actually there's less chance of the fans cycling with the new snap switch because of the wide reset temp differential. I just wanted to make sure there is not an errant perception of how this new switch works.
So far so good with my creep switch. Once it turns the fans on under way they stay on and it cycles properly when the bike is turned off. The only thing I concern myself about is the vibrations that the fans are subjected to as they hang there on the horn mount. They must be pretty tough to withstand that punishment on a sustained basis.
Hi Jason,Got the fans on my 2013 FATBOB,here in Spain. Superb bit of kit in the 30+ temps here at the mo. QUESTION: would a relay between the switch and the fans cure the switch problem, because of lower current draw

Unfortunately the "problem" has not been truly defined, so its hard to say what might work as a "fix". The FCS only draws 2.2 amps, so I don't think a relay will provide the solution.
