I`m retired from the HVAC industry, and the snap action switches I`ve been around have as little as 20* differential for start/stop. Most are 30* to 60* differential, with the "high limit" type for heaters shutting off in a hundred degree range from 300* degrees and lower. Are you sure you tried the companies that make these? (FASCO, ICP, MARS, etc.)
Naturally I don't have the exposure to thermal products that a lifelong vocation in HVAC has afforded you, but I have done a fair amount of research for switches. I just checked out all of those companies you quoted and I was unable to find anything useful related to thermal switches. If you have a little more focused direction for me to look, I would surely appreciate the input. I have found that most of the common thermal switches used in HVAC have a large housing, which makes them suitable for a lot more variation in features, like a narrower reset temperature as you mentioned. Unfortunately those switches pose a mounting problem for this application because they are too large. On the other hand the switches that I have found that can work, have very limited configurability because of their small size. I just don't have the time or resources to dedicate to seeking out the perfect switch. If I can find one close to optimal operation with a minimal failure rate, I'll be happy.
I love the control of the creep switch, has been dead reliable for me. I don't know if I could wrap my head around the switch not coming on at 190. I have close to 20k on my FCS.
First ride after installing the snap switch; 45/50 degree day rode 20 min. highway stopped for gas started up rode 5 min. to meeting place fans never came on. After bike was shut down fans came on for about a min. then shutdown. Rode the rest of the day in this temp mostly highway with slow riding through a couple of small towns fans never came on. At the end of the ride after shutdown again they ran for about a min or 2. The engine and the fans did not feel that hot so I'm assuming on cold days on the highway with the new switch the fans will not come on. These are installed on a 110" which runs hotter than the 103". Does this sound normal?

I have ridden my bike in pretty cool temps with the snap switch and the fans come on if I ride long enough. The head temps as shown by my PV have to get to around 250 F if the I am moving and there is cold air moving over the fins, but it still comes on. If you think it isn't working correctly try using an infrared thermometer and let the bike idle until the fans come and then check the temperature of the head. That will at least tell you if the switch is closing in the correct temperature range.

Ray,this just a possibility but If you have a rich tune along with the cold ambient temps in motion, your front head may not be reaching the switch temp. Without knowing your head temp it's kinda hard to say if there is an issue or not. I agree with $tonecold , let it sit and idle long enough to turn the fans on, if you don't have a temp gun just mark the time elapsed. Let me know what happens, I'll do my best to help you get it right.
Jason, the snap switch has been working out great for my 120, after going thru 3 of the slow switches. I wrap the snap switch with vulcanizing tape to fit it between the fins right next to the temp sensor. I like that the fans run on till cool down and stay off once the bike is shut down. We still have temps in the 80's around here with lots of riding to do.
So far I have got all good feedback on this new switch, at least no failures reported. The issue RayK is experiencing may or may not be unique to his bike. I will keep an eye out for reports on cold temp operation. It may be necessary to drop the switch calibration temp a little more to accommodate proper operation for cold weather riders.

Mine (snap) only came on today when I rolled into garage. Pretty cool.. 52 degrees. 7 mile ride home and it never came on until then but I think that's fine. Not hot enough to matter.

I'm not sure how this is going to play out with the switches but if you need/want a creep switch in the future I will get you one.
