+1 They are a little over priced IMHO, but make all the difference in the world. I use a Blue Point dial gauge I bought from Snap-On to check the pressure. It has a straight chuck...can't find it on their web-site now though????

I purchased the Harley branded mini compressor. It clips onto the battery harness. You can check the pressure and add air in one step. Still not a breeze but the best solution I have found. It stores easily in the saddle bag for trips.

There's a big variety of angled stems, but I'd really recommend solid metal, no rubber. I've had a 90 degree rubber crack - they're obviously heavier to one side, and the rubber allows flexing that eventually cracks it. Luckily on mine, it just started a slow leak and I caught before it completely let go. When I changed it, it easily broke off with my fingers. I got some nice looking chromed steel ones from Summit Racing - might be a car company, but same size stems, and cheaper than the "motorcycle" stems at most bike shops. They have two thin nuts to lock together on the inside, but I still use a liberal amount of blue loctite. You don't always have to remove the tire completely, I've changed one just by breaking the bead on one side and pushing it down out of the way. Of course, you'll still have to remove the wheel to do that. If it's rubber, I change it to steel, even if I continue with a straight stem.

Here's what I use. I would not add any extensions on your valve stem as the extra weight will eventually cause the stem to fail. I've seen it happen more than once, even with those little plastic dice.

+1 Been using one of the EZ-Air gauges for years now. Use a small air compressor that they sell at any auto parts store.

Yes. That is what I meant by the harness.

No, mine seems to be angled to the bag too much to get the hose on. Next time I take the bag off, I'm going to bend it up a little then I'll be able to get at it. Thanks!
