Default RE: 100 degrees?

How about HD modify the thermistor or make it adjustable to compensate
for the heat in the fairing?
A good possible location is behind the battery under the seat. It is at least as good
if not better than where they put it.
Or maybe they could call HONDA and ask them how to do this particular project right!!
And I am NOT sue happy. But sometimes that we as the "little" guy have that as our only option
to get them to listen to us.!!
But as long as you only come here and whine, you will get exactly what you paid for ;NOTHING!!

Once again!!
HDMOCO knows this gauge is inaccurate and they won't do anything to correct it.
WHY??
Because they have NO INCENTIVE to fix it.
They sell a considerable number of oil temp gauges. And where are they mounted?
In the A.A.Temp gauge opening (people remove the useless A.A. T. gauge).
Thus giving HD even more money. Fix the useless AAT they would lose sales and money
on the O.T. gauge.

Because they know you all are a bunch of whimpy whiny complainers and won't STAND UP
and fight them!!
I pay 18K and up for my bike I expect the gauges to be accurate.
Ask yourself, if HD can't produce and install a accurate simple outdoor thermometer, then how
accurate is the oil pressure, volts, or the REPLACEMENT OIL TEMP YOU JUST BOUGHT????

I said it before and I'll do it again.
Write a minimum of 3 certified letters complaining of this to the OWNER of the dealership and the the service manager, and CEO of HD.
File a online complaint to the FTC ( enough complaints they will act and FORCE HD to correct it).
Keep copies of these letters, all work orders.
Then Naming the same people above as defendants, file a small claims court action.
when the dealers and HD get enough summons from their customers, things will change.
They will get tired of lost time and wagesfrom having toappear in court.
BUT THE ONLY WAY TO GET ANYTHING POSITIVE DONE IS WE ALL HAVE TO BAND TOGETHER AND FORCE OUR LEGITIMATE CLAIMS!!!!!!!
Since you so up on making everything work just right, where do you propose that the thermister ( that would be the device that reads ambient temp) could be placed on a motorcyclewhere it wont be affected by ANYTHING but ambientair temp? We all know that under the fairing heats up due to the sun and the radio heat. Anywhere in the middle of the bike it would be affected by engine/trans heat, in the back it would be affected by the exhuast! If HD made all dresser models single sided exhaust then they could place it along the left side fender strut, then it would be pretty accuate. But then everybody would bitch about the exhaust.

You like to bitch about everything how 'bout coming up with some ideas to correct the things that **** you off instead of just filing lawsuits and writing letters.

Somebody once said "BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION NOT THE PROBLEM"

So every time the temp changed by 5 degrees you would want to adjust gauge?

Pull your fairing, unclip the thermister, add 12" of wire to each of the 2 wires, bring the thermister down to frame in front of the tank on the left side, attach it to the wire harness with a zip tie. Now itwill be as accurate as an '08 model and eveybody with an '08 seems to think thiers are pretty accurate.

If you need some help with this you can ride down to Pueblo and I can do it for you!

I don't need a thermometer on my motorcycle to tell me if I am hot or cold. I replaced it with an oil temp guage so that I could monitor my engine a little better.

When I had the out fairing off I relocated the thermister to right beside the left lower outer fairing screw, out of the fairing, not "normally" affected by direct sunlight and plenty of "fresh air" to give it a fighting chance to be somewhat accurate. Just my .02

I agree the air temp gage is worthless and have considered replacing it with the oil temp gage but have no idea what's involved with that procedure. How difficult is it to replace the gage?

What good is an oil temp gauge? Are you going to pull over and turn off the engine if you think it's "too high"? Then what, sit there for a couple hours, ride and repeat? Haha! How do you know what too high is for oil temp? That sounds like a useless gauge to me. I'd rather know air temp, but I did relocate the sensor so it is accurate now.
