When adjusting the VIEDs what am I trying to accomplish? How do I know when I have it right?
My Rinehart slipons have discolored a bit (the right one) prior to the FL-VIED and header decat was put on and as I understand it that is caused by a lean condition. I want to make sure I get the right air/fuel ratio but not real sure on what exactly I'm looking at, listening too, etc on adjusting the VIEDs,
i have a decatted pipe and fl-vied-10 set at 50% and runs good . i tried 75% and 100%. with the higher setting i got some popping in the exhaust due to reversion. free flowing pipes and mufflers they need to be backed off alittle, with the cat i ran them at 75%
So does increasing the setting increase fuel to the ratio or decrease it?
yes it does, but after talking at length with steve at nightrider he told me to back off of the adjustment when running no cat and freeflowing mufflers because you are allowing fresh air into the exhaust system causing reversion. that's why having no exhaust leaks is very importent. also by having free flowing mufflers fresh air can and does get to your 02 sensors and they read that air as lean so they richen it up some more. so you need to lean it out alittle. kinda backwards thinking if you are use to working on carbed bikes
