Best Buy has their Polk-Audio 6 1/2" speakers on sale for $39.99, and mine are pretty worn. I already have the adapter ring, but my question is if I buy those Polk_Audio's could I use bubble wrap for packing to push the sound forward???? Figured it wouldnt matter if moisture got to it.

I'd suggest that it wouldn't do anything and the packing in a speaker cab is to control resonances--- not "push the sound forward"

if you are worried about moisture and paper speaker cones, speakers can be scotch guarded.

Ok I didnt know that is what the packing is for. These speakers have poly cones, so moisture shouldnt be an issue.

 

If your installing these to a stock Hardon Kardon headunit be sure the Polk Speakers are 2 ohms impedance. If it's Polk db651's there 4 ohms. Some wrap there speakers with Polyfil for improved sound.

 

Go to Walmart where the pillows are and get a bag of poly fill it will send the sound to you with a much proved sound quality

Don't buy 4 ohm speakers unless you are riding an '05 or earlier. Your radio is set up for 2 ohm speakers.

 

Mines an '06, so I guess those wont work with the stock HK head unit. What are most headunits now a days?

 

If your looking for low cost 6.5" replacement speaker for your HK the Infinity Kappa 62.9i is a 6.5" speaker that is 2 ohms that'll work. I've seen them in $70 range online. They'll sound a lot better than stockers.

 

Infinity and JBL both have good 6.5" coax 2 ohm speakers. They are good matches for the stock HK head unit as they are made/owned by Harmond Kardon.
