I am guessing they will reintroduce it with the new water cooled head design which they have a patent on. From what I saw the radiators will be hidden in the lower fairing with the water only cooling the heads. Time will tell...
^^^This^^^ The Road Glide is the only candidate because the fairing is frame mounted not fork mounted. The extra weight in a batwing wouldn't fly with the engineering requirements.
Just the heads will be watercooled.
Talked to a guys who knows someone who's hung around the local HD dealer for some time now.....and he says that the MoCo is getting rid of the shark fairing, re-sizing the frame, going to a 96 engine, and putting a smaller rear wheel on to change the handling. A quick release National Cycle windshield will be offered as an option, but it will cost $100 more at the dealer compared to ordering on line.
It's true, it's true!!
My opinion, and only my opinion. No way in hell they do away with the RG. There may be changes, but, the bike itself will continue. One thing I keep hearing is the entire water cooled issue. One question I have, and I admit, I'm not an expert nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn, but, don't you think they would still, somehow, keep the Harley sound and look with the bike. Or is it simply a mortal sin to go to water cooled. Just asking?
With the re-introduction of the Road Glide sometime in the future, this would be a great time to introduce a new model with a new engine design, whether it be water cooled or something else. Possibly a complete new bike design.
One never knows what H-D will do, but they have to do something to get a leg up. Remember, the new Indian comes out in a few weeks. Maybe it will be a strong competitor, maybe not. The last one was not but the new one may well be and Harley needs to have something to come out swinging with.
