The older touring bikes (01 and older) (don't know about newer haven't checked)
You could change out the front belt sprocket ( behind the clutch) to two teeth larger.
I think it was a 34 tooth then.
Reduced engine rpm in 5th I think about 300rpm or so.
My olde 98 road glide had this. Was fine level but uphill was a little doggy unless I was doing at least 75.
But did get about 50 to 55 mpg if I kept it easy on throttle.
But don't thinkchanging rear sprocket on new bikes would change the speedo.
New bikes are read off the tranny and that should not change anything.
Only a larger or smaller diameter tire should change that.
However your engine rpms would change.
