Got my LRS 8" Ultra shield on Friday. Put about 300 miles on. The shield looks great, no buffeting. I was able to ride without earplugs and could hear the radio better, at a lower volume. Overall, very impressed with the new shield. My only issue is it's about an inch too tall. I found myself looking through it, rather than over it at times. I'm about 5'9" and ride a street glide. I got the polycarbonate version, and the 8" is the shortest they had. Customer service was great, emails were answered quickly. I would recommend the LRS shield without reservation.
Did you talk to them first before ordering? If so they will tell you the shield should be 2" below your line of sight (I believe). I have a shield for my Road King and one of their Flat Top styles for my Memphis Shades fairing. Great products at a very reasonable price and a great company to do business with.
I have the same shield and am also 5'9". The top of the shield is right at the tip of my nose but it changes depending on whether you're going up or down hill.I wish I would have got the 7" Ultra but I tried another 7 " windshield and it seemed like it was too low so I opted for Long Rides 8"."Elite".It's a good shield I think I'd just live with it for awhile and if you really hate it go ahead and cut an inch off the bottom.
I have the 8" Ultra LRS which does a good job, I also just received an 8" X-treme which to me is better for a summer shield as it keeps the wind from blasting you right in the face but lets it in on the sides for a cooling effect. So now I can switch to the Ultra when the weather hits the cold season.
I am on 2nd season with my 10" Fast Aire wind screen on my 97 ultra classic. I love this wind shield. I am 5' 11" and the line of sight us just above the top. No buffeting, good look and protects pretty well in the rain. Thumbs up!
8.5" clockwerks is too tall for me at 5'9" on a Street Glide. I'm also not impressed with the wind deflection or the lack thereof.
Too late, I bought it, can't return it, stuck with it

If it's in good shape sell it on ebay, that's what I did. I now have a LRS 6" and am very pleased so far.
