Default Which shop manual is best

I am looking to pick up a shop manual to work on my bike. Any suggestions or comments on which one is the best. Other than the obvious, get the right year and model.

Get the HD manual specific to your model and year.
The HD manual is the best, hands down.

ElectraGlideSteve is right. I've only been riding for 5 years but from wrenching on everything from cars to 18 wheelers for 45 years I believe factory manuals are best. You get what you pay for. I got my Sportster 5 years ago and immediately bought the HD manual for it. I think it was the right choice.

Sounds like you answered your own question man Another great investment that you can make for your bike other than the service manual is a bike jack/lift. It will pay for itself the first few times you put your bike on it for work instead of giving the $$$ to the dealer. I learned along time ago in the military that the only stupid question is the one that is not asked, kudos to you for wanting to learn/bond with your bike. I guarantee you that there is not a problem that you will run into that has not been dealt with before by someone reading these threads. Good deal Christo, drive on dude.

I bought the service manual the same day I took delivery on my bike. I've used it a hundred times to do stuff I never would have attempted if I didn't have it.

It costs about $60? I know I've saved many times that in labor costs.

Do your self a big favor and buy the parts manual also. It's invaluable to to see where and what aataxches to what , what order things are in and so much more.

HD manual is what you want. Steer clear of Ebay CDs, they are illegal copies.

As mentioned, consider a parts manual and an electrical diagnostics manual.

Buy them at lshd1.com for 20% off and $9.95 shipping special. You more than pay for shipping with the savings.
