I have had mine since new, 3 years ago. When you abruptly upright the bike off the side stand or at a gas station I will usually wobble the bike side to side to burp air out of the tank when fueling, this rapid movement will cause the siren to go off for a second. You will see the red key icon blink on the speedometer as well. The system resets and then goes back to standby. This all happens with the ignition switch off. My buttonless fob is in my right pocket and is adjacent to the seat during these episodes. It is pretty normal. Try not moving the bike too quickly.
I'm using the HD siren and the Radio Shack siren....Can't be to safe.....When they both start screaming, it will wake the dead...never had them activate if I was near or on the bike with the FOB in my pocket...in the garage when I'm jacking to bike up and the FOB is in the cabinet, they chirp once and if I don't stop jacking the bike up, they start screaming....
WATCH OUT FOR LOW POWER LINES. I was outside of one of my favorite watering holes and couldnt get the bike to start. alarm was going off, bike going nuts.I was even changing battery's in the fob. an hour later as I was messing with it reading the manual, there is a key sentence in the manual. "Remove bike from any electrical interferance" that when I looked up. rolled bike 15 feet backwards and she fired. even my dang code wouldn't start it. I was a little pissed.
your code would have started it except that you had your fob with you. if you try to input your code with your fob present, it won't work. my guess what you had happening was that your bike was getting an intermittent signal from the fob so it would fail when you tried to input the code, but still would't allow you to start the bike.
if i find myself in that situation, what i do is to try to input the code. if it won't take it, move your fob away and try again. usually works that time around.
