Default Tire Change Question

About to change the front tire on my 08 Ultra, 14000 miles. This is the original tire that came on the bike when new, dated 4107.
I am replacing with the same Dunlop 402, my question is right now there is no balance weights on the rim, Can the new one be installed without weights? Is that the purpose of the balance dot?

The installer will check the balance when the new tire is mounted and balance as needed.

The yellow balance dot is the the light portion of the tire. The dot should be lined up with the valve stem of the wheel because the valve stem adds weight and will therefore be the heaviest part of the wheel (especially on machined aluminum rims that are very uniform in weight). If you line up the yellow dot with the valve stem you will generally have the configuration that will take the least amount of weights to balance out.

It is rare that a tire and wheel can be married up that require no balance weights even with the dot lined up with the stem. The original tire setup was just a lucky marriage. Chances are your new tire will require at least some balance weights.

Don't mean hijack thread but question along these lines. Can rear tire be accurately balanced without disc rotor mounted & isolator/sprocket?

Default Can you get by without wheel weights?

Yes, Dynabeads or ride-on.

Another vote for Ride-on. Put it in my Ultra and she's just like jfarrar30 said "Smooth as butter."

when you bring the tire/rim to dealer should you leave the brake rotors installed on the rim or remove them
