I have a 2007 Road Glide custom with 45,750 miles. It is in great shape and I love it. I have been thinking about getting a newer model or even an RG Ultra to have the extra storage and comfort for my wife, I most often ride 2 up and take weekend trips frequently.
I found a beautiful 2012 Chrome Yellow Custom with only 5000 miles and price the same as brand new before negotiation. Also adding a removable tour pack for travel is not cheap.
My decision is do I shop now or wait until the 2015s are out. I am interested to see what new developments will be on the 2015s. Nicer looks? much more power? Better stereo and electronics? What do you think?
Buying a tour pack is a lot cheaper than buying a new one! If you haven't done so, upgrade the shocks, forks and get a "frame" stabilzer and the bike will feel much better!
Well if you love it, I would watch the Forum "For Sale" list and Ebay for a Tourpack and whatever else you require for a more comfortable ride. 2015 is a long time to wait.
well I wouldn't wait to long because this is the last year for the roadglide. remember Harley is gonna axe them for next year along with a few other models. the road glide will be back at some point after a redesign but I wouldn't bet on it till 2016
First year builds are a joke I work in automotive and so many parts are shimmed n glued and bent to fit and the all tooling goes back to the builder for numerous engineering changes the first year !!
First year production model always has the most recalls by far.... and the lowest resale value.
Last year production model is always the highest resale value.
Not proportional to year to year values.
After two to three years of production vehicles get decontented for cost savings. A late second year model is usually a good bet for quality.
Buy now and ride now or wait three years in my opinion.

......... i understand the attraction to the yellow
..... that said, if they're asking a 'new' price, i'd deal on a leftover '12 or '13 FLTRU
....... if you ride w/the wife on longer runs, get the Ultra, all the good stuff that makes longer rides truely comfy is already there.
..... by the time the new warranty is used up, you'll know what '15 or '16 models have that you don't, and can make an informed, unhurried decision about whether you really need to upgrade further or not
