Default Saddlebag locks

Not something to lock the bags shut, but a way to lock the bags to the bike.

I've got an RK Police with Classic bags on it. Does anyone know of a company that makes a lock that will secure the bags to the bike? Something that maybe replaces one or both of the quick release fasteners that hold the bags on?

I suppose I could just bolt the bags on, but not needing tools and 20 minutes to remove them for washing and maintenance would be nice.

I think those on the moco site are to lock the lid closed. I have police hard bags and have the locks for the lids. If someone cannot open the lid, then how are they going to be able to undo the quick release? I know it requires locking the bags and unlocking them everytime you park the bike but that only take 2 seconds, and the lock is on the back of the lid which is far easier to see then the non police bags lock placement where you have to get on a knee to see the lock on the kickstand side. Just my $.02

The problem with just a lock to lock the bags shut is that its real easy to pry up the lid and slip a hand in to undo the fasteners holding the bag to the bike. These leather-over-plastic bags look good, but the aren't real sturdy that way.

Anyone with a 7/16" box or open end wrench can reach the two bolts on each side that attach the saddlebag mounting brackets to the bike; I know since that's how I adjusted my mounting brackets (with bags mounted to the brackets) after installing the saddlebag support rail (like the Street Glide) and ditching the EG guard and saddlebag rails. And I will adjust the brackets again this same way when I replace the hard bags with RK Custom leather bags.

Locking the bags is a deterrent; but a prepared and determined thiefwith a wrench can get the bags.

That's cool. I did a little 'research', and it looks like the HD lock does lock the bags to the bike. Maybe I'll swing by a shop tomorrow and verify.

Anyone with a 7/16 wrench in their pocket could probably steal my whole rear fender, Harleypingman, throw in a #27 torx and there goes my derby cover and seat as well. I'm just trying to find a way to keep the 'opportunists' from making off with 'em, while keeping them somewhat convenient to remove for wash day and maintenance projects.

You could remove the "D" ring from the pins after the bags are on the bike, then if someone pry the lids and tries to twist the pins they will need supper human strength. When you wish to remove them you can make tool of you own just for your use or have something like an allen wrench, which fits the hole in the pins in you tool kit.
