Default Leaky Profile

Before I traded for my current ride I bought a take off Profile Lace front wheel for my 08 Ultra. He had a matching set but the rear wouldn't fit the 08 because they fit the newer style frame. When I traded for the Limited, he still had the rear take off with original tire so I had him throw it in the deal too since I had already bought its mate. I've had it on now for about 3 wks and have to constantly air the rear up. Well I finally took the time to find the leak last night. It's leaking at the first spoke behind the valve stem nipple. I've done a little digging but found nothing definitive. Don't really wanna screw around with it without knowing what I'm doing. Could it be that the valve stem is a little loose letting the air leak at the spoke? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If it's a tubeless spoke wheel. don't fall for that crap, put a tube in it. I have a "tubeless" spoke wheel on mine and I was always a little nervous about it, and it turned out I was right, after about 5000 miles it started leaking around the spokes. Pulled it off, put a tube in it, been fine ever since. If it does have a tube in it, sounds like it needs to be replaced.

Yeah that's what I'm thinkin too. I think I'll try tightening up the valve stem first and if that don't work I'll slap a tube in it and call it a day!!

Until the '13 models all Harley spoke wheels require tubes. My '09 had them from the factory.

I don't believe that to be so. I know of several people that run the Profile Laced wheels on '10 models and have been running them since the bike was new and they are tubeless.

...and you would be correct sir. Friend has a 2010 rkc with tubeless rims. 2012 rkc next to mine on the showroom floor had tubeless rims. I bought 2012 (tube rims) because I didn't like the color of the other one.
