I was looking at the Harley premium but was turned off by one shock doing one thing and the other controlling other functions.
Do you feel any twisting at all?
No twisting. One of the reasons they are for 09 and newer only is the beefed up frame is needed. And from what I have read, Harley is not the only one who does rebound on one side, preload on the other. Used to have a bike that the forks were set up this way as well.
I was thinkiing the same thing. One shock cover compression the other covers rebound.........Seriously??? And they call them "premium touring shocks".
That comes up a lot, but it really doesn't affect the ride.
If your swing arm was hinged in such a way that each side operated independently, I could see an issue.
But since it is a solid one piece part this setup works quite well.
Why not put premium touring shocks on a bike you PAY a premium for??
Sorry got a little sideways....
When you pay the premium price for the CVO bikes, you do get these shocks.
Harley is no different than any other manufacturer in this area.
Anyone else running these and have an opinion to share?
I am seriously considering them being my air shocks were dialed in, and rode very nicely, but have developed a leak, and I won't play that game till eternity.
These new hydraulics look like they could be the ticket. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
After buying a used 2010 RG, I was pleasantly surprised to find the prior owner installed the HD Premium Ride shocks. Are they as good as the Ohlins on my FXDL? No, but they are a nice upgrade over the stock shocks.
I have the 13" Premium Ride. Very pleased with the ride. I do have one minor issue. The clicks. Instructions say each full turn is a click. Mine click every half turn. A bit of a PIA guessing game ... 13 turns or is it 26 clicks? All the clicks feel like its "the one" I put a white mark on one of the "bumps" to help keep track of the full turns. Not sure of where "0" is either... so am I at 13 (2-up) or 13 1/2. They added a crooked sticker for height reference so that helps.

Cool, I ordered mine this morning and they will be in Thursday or so, for they are in stock in Wisconsin.
Lookin forward to the upgrade, and curious to see if they are sensitive enough to react differently to 1 up or 2 up. Not sure if it will take 2 settings, 1 for solo, and 1 for Mrs along.
I have lost 54 lbs since I started battling cancer again (down to a buck and 1/4) , and the Mrs goes about a buck 40.

Go by the "full turn" clicks.
That click you feel on the 1/2 side isn't quite as pronounced as when you come around to a full turn.
And most do the same thing in marking them somehow to aid in counting the full turn clicks.
