Perhaps if I adjusted them down to 125-150 preload it would quiet them down. But the instructions for the FM rod install says 19 flats (.0989 preload). Could I run into problems if I went to a 125-150 preload.
The instructions for SE pushrods says 2 1/2 turns (15 flats), but I'm doing 3 turns, some are going 3 1/2. Thats what this thread is about!

The best noise reduction I found was 1/2 turn from bottomed out. I'm not trying to turn this into an oil thread, but switching from synthetic to conventional oil made a significant difference as well.

After I got my issues resolved (got scammed on a cam), the engine is probably quieter then stock now.

Yep, 3 full turns using the VThunder Lifters & TW-222 cams and it's perfect.

Just wondering. I installed the Zippers Redshift dual piston tensioners and the Axtell oil by-pass system at the same time, it seemed to make a huge difference in the noise level. Then I installed Gaterman lifters and a Wood TW-888 cam. I can honestly say that the noise level is quieter than stock. I was really shocked as my experience with Wood cams has been that they are usually noisy.

I'm confused, as I see all different numbers of "turns"... Within the next month I'm about to install (with another forum member) my TW 222s with FM adj pushrods, FM directional roller lifters, Zippers cam chain tensioners and the Axtell bypass. FM says 4 turns and two flats. I really don't want to go back in to adjust multiple times... I see 3, I see 3 1/2... Good grief...

The number of turns it takes to move the piston in the lifter .100" depends on the number of threads per inch the pushrods have on their adjustment. FM pushrods must have 42 tpi which means to move the piston .100" takes 4.2 turns. To move it .125" will take 5.25 turns. The whole point of this thread is whether we are experiencing any lessening of the valve train noise by deepening the adjustment. I have mine adjusted at .125" and they are quiet.

Pretty sure FM pushrods are 32 tpi. If they say to set them at 4 turns and 2 flats, they're aiming for .130 depth.

They told me to closely look at the video that they have as part of the series associated the the 107 kit build; the 12 minute piece that shows pushrod install and adjustment is where I got that from. They also told me "about 4 and a
third turns" when I have talked to them on the phone. When I get home I'm going to see if my instructions are any different. I'm glad to be hashing this out now. It seems that they are advocating a deeper adjustment as many are discussing on this thread.
