Hi guys, my new to me 09 Road King Classic doesn't have a stock handlebar set up. The previous owner had some 4 or 6in risers installed with the stock bars mounted on top. I have recently purchased some 16in apes along with having to purchase the stock riser and bar clamp plus the top housing/shroud etc.
I have removed headlight and all necessary covers and went to remove the riser bolts but for the life of me can't seem to get a spanner to sit flush due to the bolts facing sort of upwards and there being a plate directly under the bolt so I can't get a socket onto it and because it doesn't sit flush it had started to round off the bolt so I stopped immediately.
Any ideas on how to get to the bolts properly or a special tool required?
uh.....you have to turn the handlebars full right and full left to get to the bolts which will then be exposed. You can then use a socket or box end wrench.
Had the same issue when I did my apes and Dawg set me straight ....pretty simple turning the bars huhh.
Interesting setup wonder what they did with the oem Nachelle?
Sometimes we tend to over think the solution with all of our special tools and such when the answer ends up being pretty simple. And as long as they keep putting erasers on pencils, I will be making mistakes. Glad to have helped.
