Custom Dynamics speaker lights - warning
That being said, just a fair warning about the LED rear speaker pod light rings. First off (no I dont have pics yet) they mount rather easily, make a great visual effect and are BRIGHT. Once you have a good power source, whether into the running light circuit or independent switch, installation is pretty straight forward.
Sometimes, we, as amateur (for the most part) mechanics, electricians, chrome accessorizors, put combinations together that our vendors dont necessarliy anticipate or test for. All that being said, let me get to the point:
IF you have replaced your rear speaker pod grille with something conductive, like the Klockwerks metal grilles, and IF you still have the passenger grab bar in place, your passenger MAY experience unpleasant electrical shocks. The HD chrome trim rings MAY also play into the scenario.
I tried touching them myself and it never shocked me, so take this as a possible issue with your passenger. Maybe my hands are rougher than my passenger's tender skin. I told her it was a feature included to enhance the passenger experience and ensure passenger attentiveness. She failed to see the humor.
I tried multiple solutions to no avail, finally removing the passenger grab bar appears to have resolved the issue. Since this was not used for anything by me or my passenger, removing it was no real issue.
As best I can figure out is that somehow the lighting strip is grounding to the metal grille and when my passenger touches both the grille and the grab bar, they are grounded and get a shock.
