I have the black JES Custom wind deflectors. They work great for me and being painted black, they blend right in on my black Ultra. I don't really notice them anymore.
I also had the "ashtray" between the forks, but took it off after installing the JES fork deflectors. I found the combo caused too much of a vacuum/backdraft.
Personally fought the urge to put on fork deflectors myself as well but i gave in, bought the JES Accent set, looks much better than the HD ones, kept the hard lowers and i must admit, its pretty damn nice behind that stubby shield. Guess i'll keep it all on there after all--by the way, Joe @ JES is my kind of supplier, great service. You wont be dissapointed.
I bought a 09 Ultra & went on a 6,000 mile trip. I hated the buffeting. When I returned home I put on the chrome fork lowers / had to mount them backwards to keep them from hitting the hard lowers. I have 43,000 miles on it now & wouldn't ride it without them.
I like the reply about the SCBA flippers !!!I use a 10 in. Clearview windshield that works GREAT for the upper air flow but what I am whining about is the lower air flow. As far as the way the scooter looks, if I didn't care what my Scooter looked like I would have bought a Honda or BMW and I would not have this problem. Thanks for the reply"s and suggestions-----Ride Safe !!!
you see more flaps and wind deflectors on goldwings than on any other bike...and their windshields are adjustable to start with. the lower triple tree wind deflector and the fork deflectors do a pretty good job. JMO
