Default Beat to Death

I know that this subject has been Beat to Death on this forum but I have still not found an answer to the wind buffeting on my 2007 FLHTC.I have tried all the bat wing wind deflectors, the ash tray between the forks, and I even have a set of the fork deflectors that I refuse to use because IMO they are UGLY.
Do the hard lowers on the UltraGlide eliminate this issue ????
I hate to see other riders on Sportster's, Honda's, BMW's etc. rideing with a baseball cap or DuRag on and I cannot do that because of the wind blowing up from under my fairing.
I know that the size of my boots ( Size 15) are part of the problem because they are like a spoiler on a NASCAR, but unless I keep my legs tight against the gas tank a ball cap or DuRag is out of the question.
One last question is why doesn't the Mother Company invest some money in a wind tunnel and design a fairing that eliminates this issue?
Happy Trail's !!!

...they have- but WE keep buying the batwing !

I wear a ballcap on my FLHTC both my '95 and the '09.

I cut the windscreen so that the windblast hits me right where my hairline used to be.

I keep the stock bars, so my hands are low

I do ride with knees to the tank- that keeps the hot air from the motor flowing by, and dampens valve clatter

hands up, like with apes, or knees out catches air and brings in into your chest.

I do use fairing lowers, but on/off make no diff on my ball cap

I sometimes use the fairing mounted adjustable deflectors to control air INTO the cockpit, and lessen the pressure differential- this does reduce uncontrolled air rushing up.

but in rain I still stretch a bungee between the mirror stalks and hang a rag over to catch the spray

plenty windtunnel time went into the NOVA fairing which was later used on the FXRT/ FXRD/ FXRP ( I have 2 in my shed) that fairing worked well.

And the road glide fairing also has had plenty wind tunnel, but I do not like that riding experience with the wind ( just preference)

So I have the dumb 'ol batwing which is not aerodynamic, unloads the front end at speed and turns wind gusts into steering input.

Mike

The lowers will help. They cut down a lot of the wind that your scuba flippers are causing.

One size doesn't fit all. We are all shapes and sizes so maybe try find others with the same type bike and your size and see what works for them or if your rich keep throwing money at it till you are satisfied or broke.

On my UC, I just close the two stock air deflectors if I am going over 50. I have no problems with hats (bill backwards) or even smoking a cigar. I can puff away at 0 to 80 and only when I am up around 65+ will ashes fly around.

You have the solution to your problem but refuse to use them. The fork wind deflectors. I had the same issue with my street glide. Different wind screens, the ash tray deflector, the batwing deflectors, none got rid of the buffeting for me until I put some Jess Customs fork deflectors on and they eliminated the buffeting. I actually took them off shortly after putting them on because I didn't like the way they looked. Then after seeing how bad the buffetting was I promptly put them back on. You want to get rid of the buffeting? Try the deflectors.

Also, I have an Ultra now with the lowers. Buffeting is not as bad as my old street glide without the fork deflectors but the street glide with the fork deflectors was better than the Ultra in terms of buffeting. I'm going to add fork deflectors to my Ultra.
