Thanks for all the in-put guys. I was really just looking for opinions and experience.. not looking for anyone to make a decision for me as someone suggested.
I have 2 stock shields that came with my bike. The tall boy one landed the top of the sheild right in the middle of my eyesight and it drove me crazy. Ive been using tyhe standar one and I like looking oiver it. Im 6'2" tall and have no issuies with it, works fine. Since I put on 16" carlini gangster apes, the shield doesnt touch the bars when still, but when Im riding, the wind pushes it into the bars and started chipping my paint. I put a felt pad there for now. I dont expect to change that problem with a new sheild.. but I dont quite like the look. I hear the recurved sheids can be a tad shorter because thay send the air higher. I kind of like the look of the gradient tint also, especially since Im blacking most of the bike out. Ill check out the sheilds mentioned.. thanks all
Stock seemed to be splitting my vision. Now have a LRS tinted recurve and look over it with no problem. Don't feel any difference in the wind protection from stock. As a previous poster said it's kinda like seats. What I like you may hate and visa-versa. I only use the shield when I'm riding greater distances on the interstate. Around town and on short trips I run sans the shield.
Hey all.. Im not liking the look of the stock shield on my RK, was thinking one a tad shorter, maybe tinted.. or maybe one with the scoop at the top.
Curious what others are using and how you like them... Pics would be great if you got em
I have an long ride shield(LRS) that is at about chin level and I love it. I bought it from a guy on here that didn't like it for whatever reason, otherwise I would not have tried it as I was very satisfied with my stocker that I trimmed shorter. My stocker was just below eye and the LRS performs better and is much shorter....good luck in your choice
I just made a homemade windscreen for some apes on my RK(see my thread). It was a choice of form over function. Provides just enough wind break for head and chest area.
I recently installed a 16" light smoke tint shield bought on Fleabay, made by Memphis Shades. Looks awesome and compliments my smoked turn signal lens. LR.
