I got an 11 street glide and I just switched to a different exhaust so I have to change the map in my pcv, it's been like 2 years since I put it on so my question is I got the new map loaded on my laptop does my ignition and run switch need to be on when remapping. Thanks and is there any way to tell if the new map downloaded on to the unit successfully...thanks
Your ignition does not have to be on. Unlike the Power Commander III, the Power Commander V gets power from the USB. Once map is loaded then you can get map from Power Commander V and you will see what is on the unit.
Derrick, yoiu need to power up the PCV to map it. Just switch the ignition on. Select the map and hit the send map button. You should get a screen message that says map loaded successfully. To be extra sure, just hit the get map button after sending it. You should see the new map listed there. It only gets power from the USB if you are loading the map from your home computer on to the disconnected PCV rather than on the bike I think.

This is correct. Just plug your laptop into the PC-V and download.

These instructions work with the Power Vision not the Power Commander 5. you can put maps on the Power vision via the USB cable and select one of 6 slots to put it in. You then have to hook the PV to the bike and power it through the switch to flash the map into the bike.
With the PCV you have to have the computer hooked to the Power Commander 5 via the USB. It doesn't matter if it is on the bike or not. Switch on the bike should be off. May not matter. When you hook the computer to the PCV it will get the current map that is on the PCV and load it . If you are loading a new map open it from the open tab and once open then send it to the PCV by pressing the send. Or you can make changes to the map it pulled up originally and make changes to it and then send it back to the PCV.
the big difference is you are flashing the ECM on the bike with the Power Vision and with the PCV you are changing the program on the PCV and not the ECM.
Exactly, your older map should be the same regardless of the exhaust. Here's how I know; when I bought my PCV I had them load a map for a set of Jackpots with stock air breather. When I did an open air breather and a set of Fatshotz I had them send me a map for that setup and it was identical as the previous. So, either they send the same map to everyone, or they made a mistake but it wasn't from my end. Anyway, try running the older map and see how the bike runs, if it doesn't feel right then you'll know.
I went from true duals to big radius thanks to gunny sgt. And he had a dyno tuned map he sent me for my same setup I'm sure the maps are totally diff I looked at the tables and their not even close
I bought a PC5 a few weeks ago. I went through hell getting it to work right. I finally decided to pull it off and upgrade to the Cobra fi2000 tuner. Im SO GLAD I did.... Install was easy, no maps to install, just plug and play, literally. Oh, and my bike runs like NEVER before!!!! Very noticeable difference in power.

No need to "upgrade" to another unit, the map I sent him should run super. The only issue I couldn't recall is if I had the switch on or off to load it while on the bike. I've had several generations of Power Commanders over the years and had a "senior moment" of if the switch had to be on or not. Plug the PCV cable in between your PCV and your laptop, locate the map I sent you from the storage source you saved it. Press the send map button, you will get a message if sent correctly. (make sure the connections are tight) You will get a message it was sent successfully. Then check select "get map" to see it's in there. No need to "upgrade" or worry about what the Vision system does or anything else. It's that easy. Then ride the crap out of it.
