as I stated you can use these as a reference, but if thats all those lines are, why is there 3 of them? you would only need one if it were for just showing thickness. It still boils down to visual inspection, and what the service life is to be expected of them. would you leave pads on that still have some of the groove showing, and you are going to take a trip of 500-1000 miles? No you change them, so its still a visual check of thickness, using those grooves as a reference. so we're both right!!
